One Mount One Day – Rise in Hope! Save the Date - Thursday, April 16
On April 16, One Mount One Day, you have the power to spark hope, create opportunity, and strengthen the paths that lead our students forward. This year’s theme, Rise in Hope, reflects something we already know: every act of generosity from you helps our entire Mount community rise. As we prepare for this special day, we need you. Your voice. Your enthusiasm. Your belief in what the Mount can become. We’re inviting you to serve as a One Mount One Day Ambassador. Ambassadors help spread the word, share why they give, and inspire others to join in. It’s a small commitment, with a mighty impact. Join us as an ambassador. Thank you for helping the Mount rise higher. With you beside us, hope grows and so does the difference we can make together.

Rise in Hope – Share the Moments That Shaped You
There’s a magic to the Mount that stays with us long after we leave campus, from the laughter echoing down hallways, to the friendships that became family, and the quiet moments that gave us courage. Every story, big or small, carries the power to lift us up and Rise in Hope. We want to hear your story. The moment that made you proud, the challenge you overcame, the tradition that made your heart swell; these are the memories that keep the spirit of the Mount alive. By sharing your experiences, you help inspire future generations and remind your fellow alumni of the hope that lives in every corner of our community. Share your Mount Love story and rise in hope with us. Let’s come together to celebrate the courage, joy, and hope that defines the Mount experience. Your story matters.

Philosophy Professor Jessy Jordan Publishes Book on Ethics
This January, “The Metaethics of Virtue Ethics: On Nature and Normativity,” a new book written by Mount St. Mary’s University Professor of Philosophy Jessy Jordan, Ph.D., was released. The book introduces readers to natural normativity, the philosophical framework behind virtue ethics. This approach holds that when we evaluate individual living things—tomato plants, owls, humans—we can do so in light of the standard set by that thing’s life form or nature. Just as we can say that an owl without night vision is objectively defective or bad, so we can say that a human lacking the virtues is objectively bad. Read more about Jordan's book.
