ARC-PA Approves Mount St. Mary's Physician Assistant Program for Launch
Mount St. Mary’s University’s Physician Assistant program has received provisional accreditation from the commission that oversees PA education in the United States. The program, set to seat its first cohort of students in January 2026, will help close the health care provider deficit in Maryland. “We have been planning for this moment for several years and are ecstatic to launch the PA program,” said Program Director Mary Jackson, MMS, PA-C, CAQ-EM, C’05, in announcing provisional accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

Abigail Jarrett, C'25, Earns Fulbright ETA to Bosnia and Herzegovina
Recent graduate Abigail Jarrett, C’25, is the recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award. Jarrett will travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina this October and spend nine months living and teaching there as a Fulbright awardee. As a senior, Jarrett worked with the Office of Competitive Fellowships and her professors to navigate the intensive application process for the prestigious Fulbright fellowship.

Cameron Stiles, C’20, Earns Fulbright USTA Award
Fulbright Austria has chosen Mount St. Mary’s University alum Cameron Stiles, C’20, as a United States Teaching Assistant (USTA). He will spend the 2025-26 academic year in Feldkirch, Austria, teaching English and sharing American culture with secondary school students. As an undergraduate, Stiles double majored in German and international studies.

Beloved Science Professor William Meredith Passes Away
With great sadness, Mount St. Mary's University announces the death of Professor Emeritus of Biology William “Bill” G. Meredith, Ph.D. A Mount professor and administrator for 41 years, Meredith died July 19 at the Oak Crest Senior Living Community. He was 92 years old. A beloved professor, Meredith taught engaging botany, genetics, ecology and general science courses. He also taught a freshman writing course, which helped inspire his interest in exploring the interdisciplinary connections between science and the humanities, a passion that continues to be celebrated at the Mount through the ongoing Meredith-Donovan Lecture Series, named for Meredith and his friend, Professor Emeritus John Donovan, Ph.D., who passed away in 2022. Mount St. Mary’s to Offer Scholarship for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
The Mount St. Mary’s University Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business announces the Randolph Johnson Scholarship for Entrepreneurs. The annual scholarship program will initially offer four scholarships of $2,500 each to support aspiring entrepreneurs, starting in academic year 2025-26. Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled at the Mount in any major.

Fulbright Scholar Josey Chacko Brings More Global Perspective to His Courses
Associate Professor of Business Josey Chacko, Ph.D., returned this spring from six months teaching, mentoring and learning at the Technical University of Mombasa in Kenya. Chacko served as a visiting professor, teaching supply chain and operations management, as a Fulbright Scholar. Chacko traveled to Kenya last August as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, a highly competitive program that enables established teaching professionals, researchers and administrators to conduct research and teach at various universities and research institutes abroad. Chacko, who grew up and attended school in Kenya, hopes to continue his involvement in Kenyan higher education.

Rector, Father Romano Welcomes New Seminarians
The seminary’s move in day was energetic with the arrival of incoming philosophy and theology seminarians for the formation year 2025-26. The men were welcomed by and able to meet our new Rector, Father Michael M. Romano, before the commencement of the orientation program. The Opening Mass was celebrated with our 21 new philosophy and theology seminarians, 30 propaedeutic seminarians, and the rest of the returning men on the Feast of St. Maximillian Kolbe. Unforgettable Experience for Rev. Mr. Rafael Longhini, S'26
Rev. Mr. Rafael Longhini, Mount St. Mary’s Seminary Class of 2026, Diocese of Worcester, had the honor of serving at the Closing Mass of the Jubilee of Youth presided by the Holy Father Leo XIV, in Tor Vergata, Rome, on Sunday, August 3. Prior to the liturgy, he had the opportunity to speak personally with the Holy Father and receive his blessing. This moment was a profound and unforgettable experience for Deacon Longhini on his journey to the priesthood, deepening his faith and commitment to his vocation.
