 | Ducharme Lecture: Are We Living in a Horror Movie? | While there might not be anything hiding under the bed or in the closet, many of us retain our childhood fascination with horror stories. Associate Professor of English Jack Dudley, Ph.D., dives into the world of horror for the Spring Ducharme Lecture. Dudley’s talk, titled “Are We Living in a Horror Movie?” takes the audience on a journey from 1950s Hammer Horror films like The Mummy and Dracula all the way to contemporary stories like Parasite and Possessor. Between these examples, he draws relevant literary and cultural parallels in order to show the audience that the horror genre has been a legitimate expression of the human experience, beyond its chilling, thrilling exterior. Watch a recording of the Ducharme Lecture livestream. |

 | Seminarians Evangelized at James Madison University | Each fall and spring break, approximately 20 seminarians travel to a nearby university to spread the Gospel on campus. The seminarians go out evangelizing two by two (as modeled in the Scriptures), aided by the Catholic center associated with the particular campus. The evangelization trip brings the much-needed Gospel message to campus, while also forming the seminarians in the art of leading people to encounter Christ through evangelization. During the seminarians' recent spring break, they spent March 5-7 on the campus of James Madison University in Virginia. Michael Moore, 1st Theologian stated, "It was very powerful to experience the Holy Spirit working in my life, in the lives of the students we spoke with on campus, and in the lives of the Catholic students at JMU's campus ministry. It was awesome!" |
